Moon Sweepers Steam Deck assessment: what Valve checked
Valve’s game-specific report returned the Playable category at the November 1 check. Valve explains that Playable titles can require some manual adjustment. This category is different from Verified and does not claim that this site has run the game on a Steam Deck. [4][5]
| Valve report item | What to keep with the assessment |
|---|---|
| Interface text | Valve flags some text as difficult to read. This is the reported caution. [5] |
| Default controller configuration | Valve records it as functional; this site has not independently tested every action. [5] |
| Controller button prompts | Valve records matching Deck-device prompts. [5] |
| Default graphics configuration | Valve records a positive default-performance result. No FPS, resolution, battery-life or busy-base measurement is supplied here. [5] |
Native Linux and Proton are different claims
Valve describes Proton as the Steam compatibility tool for running Windows games on Linux. A successful Proton report therefore does not show that the game ships a native Linux version. Valve advises most users to use the Proton supplied by the Steam client. [3]
Similarly, a developer’s fix for an older Proton startup issue establishes a specific reported change, not every configuration’s stability or performance. [2]
What a useful test report includes
Keep these details with a result. A report that only says the game launched cannot establish reliable gameplay, and a frame rate without scene and settings is difficult to compare.
- Device and exact hardware model.
- Game version and whether the world is new or an existing busy base.
- OS and Proton version.
- Resolution, graphics settings and any launch overrides.
- What worked: startup, menus, building, inventory, driving and a meaningful play session.
- What failed, with the exact action and message.
Use documented compatibility tools before custom builds
Start with the Steam client’s supported compatibility tools and keep a note of any version you deliberately select. Valve’s Proton documentation recommends the client-provided tool for most users. This guide does not require downloading a custom build or adding an unverified launch flag. [3]
The available choice can change with Steam and Proton releases. Treat a player’s successful configuration as a dated report to compare, not as a permanent game requirement.
Check controllers across the game, not just the title screen
The store’s full-controller and Steam Input declarations are advertised input support. Valve’s game-specific report also records positive results for the default controller configuration and matching Deck button prompts. Those are Valve’s assessment, not this site’s complete action-by-action test. [1][5]
Patch 1.0.5 reports a fix for stuck-forward movement or ignored keyboard and mouse input when a connected controller, joystick, wheel or pedals rested off-centre. Record the connected devices and exact symptom when comparing a remaining problem with that developer report. It does not establish that every controller fault has the same cause. [6]
The following actions have not been independently tested by this site. Use them as a record of what to verify on your own device, with the game, OS and Proton versions kept alongside the result.
- Can you reach and operate the menus?
- Can you perform the main cleaning and delivery actions?
- Can you place or manage the infrastructure you need?
- Can you operate and exit vehicles?
- Does any action still require a keyboard, mouse or touchscreen?
Read Valve ratings and player reports for what they mean
Valve distinguishes Verified, Playable, Unsupported and Unknown. The game-specific result recorded here is Playable at a dated source check, rather than a live rating feed. A positive default-performance item does not supply measured FPS or show that every scene and large base behaves identically. [4][5]
Before buying specifically for a handheld or Linux configuration, read the latest official details and compare reports that match your device. This site supplies no guaranteed frame rate, battery life or flawless full-game compatibility.
