Formulas and hypothetical example
Shortfall = max(selected costs − available credits, 0). An affordable purchase leaves available credits minus selected costs. If your current income is positive, divide the shortfall by that rate to estimate saving time. Payback divides the selected costs by the increase in income when that increase is positive.
For a hypothetical budget of 1,000 credits and a cost of 2,500, the shortfall is 1,500 credits. At 100 credits per minute, that takes 15 minutes to save. An increase from 100 to 150 credits per minute gives a 50-minute payback. An unchanged rate produces no positive payback.
Your inputs stay on this page and are cleared when you reload. Estimates assume steady income and exclude other spending, prerequisites and changes to the delivery loop.
How the Moon Sweepers upgrade calculator uses your prices
Use the balance you can spend and the full price of each candidate. Include any prerequisites you intend to buy in the selected bundle. Compare one item at a time if you are still deciding which purchase to make, then select the full combination when you want to check its total.
Worked example with hypothetical credits
With 1,000 credits available and a 2,500-credit purchase, the shortfall is 1,500 credits. At a current earning rate of 100 credits per minute, saving the shortfall takes 15 minutes. If the same work earns 150 credits per minute after the purchase, the extra 50 credits per minute repays the 2,500-credit cost in 50 minutes. Saving time and payback answer different questions.
Compare earnings from the same kind of run
Use the same earning scope and a comparable route before and after the change. Include travel, unloading and time spent waiting for another player. For a bundle, enter one combined before-and-after comparison. A rate based on your crew’s total is already a team figure.
Read the result before spending
A shortfall gives you a savings target. A positive balance shows what you would have left after the selected purchase. Equal or lower projected earnings give no positive payback. An upgrade can still be useful for convenience or access to a task. Enter a fresh estimate when the route, crew or equipment changes.
